GLASGOW CITY remain at the top of the SWPL ...

but only on goal difference after a 3-3 draw with Hibernian.

Both teams went into the match with 100 per cent records and, after 90 minutes, there was still nothing to separate the high-flyers.

Hayley Lauder put City ahead in the 22nd minute, but the lead lasted only four minutes as a 25-yard strike from Heather Richards flew past Lee Alexander.

And the Edinburgh side stunned the champions when they went in front before the break after a superb goal from Lizzie Arnot.

One minute after the restart City were level as Fiona Brown dispossessed Siobhan Hunter before curling a terrific shot into the top corner, and then the same player put her side ahead on 70 minutes, finishing off an impressive move.

With the clock ticking down, it looked like City would see the game out, but Cheryl McCulloch diverted the ball into the back of her own net after a cross from Kirsty Smith.

Head coach Eddie Wolecki Black felt his team should have held on for an important three points.

He said: "I think that in the first half Hibs were deserving of their lead. We didn't start the match all that well and probably went ahead against the run of play.

"Once they equalised I felt we came into the game and, ironically, during our best spell, we lost a second goal. In the second half we came out strongly and when we went 3-2 up I didn't expect us to drop points.

"It is a disappointed dressing room knowing they have thrown away the win with just a few minutes to go."

In the Old Firm match, Rangers beat Celtic 2-1 despite the Hoops taking the lead through Rhonda Jones. However, the Blues hit back through Megan Sneddon (penalty) and new signing Suzanne Mulvey to take the points at Petershill Park.

Gers coach Michelle Barr told the club website: "We are delighted with victory over what is a very good Celtic side.

"It was a fantastic performance with a tremendous team effort. The spirit, work-rate and character from all of our players were first-class, especially after going a goal down early on.

"We knew going into the game it would be highly competitive and, after dominating for long spells, our quality in the final third shone through. We thoroughly deserved to win.

"We will now head into the international break full of confidence and work hard to get better ahead of our next game against Buchan."
