GLASGOW City are delighted to announce that they have secured the signature of Clare Shine from Raheny United.

The striker who turned 20 only 11 days ago was in Glasgow last week on trial and impressed the City coaching team who immediately offered her a contract

The youngster has been a regular throughout all of the Irish youth international squads but suffered a leg break last year, which she has only just fully recovered from.

Despite the injury setback, Shine has not gone unnoticed at senior international level and has been called into two senior camps by national team boss Sue Ronan.

Discussing the signing, City head coach Eddie Wolecki Black said: "We are delighted that Clare has decided to join the club. There is no doubt she has talent and it's evident that someone so young who has overcome a long-term injury clearly has an inner determination to succeed.

"This will in my opinion prove to be an important characteristic as the season unfolds. Clare will score goals for City of that I am certain.

"My coaching staff and I very much look forward to working with Clare and wish her the very best of luck."

Shine commented: "I'm delighted to sign for Glasgow City, it's an amazing opportunity to be involved in the club and I am looking forward to playing at such a high standard."

The striker joins fellow Republic of Ireland player Denise O'Sullivan at City as the champions bolster their squad following the loss of Suzanne Lappin to retirement and injuries to key players.
