GLASGOW City saved their best performance for last as they demolished second seeds FC Zhilstroy to easily qualify for the last 32 of the Uefa Women's Champions League.

The Scottish champions won all three group games, scoring 10 goals and conceding none, and have made the knockout draw for a fourth successive season.

Every player contributed to the win at Airdrie's Excelsior Stadium, but none more so than attacker Fiona Brown who got the goal of the game and provided assists for the other three.

Head coach Eddie Wolecki Black's decision to field virtually a reserve team against Glentoran on Monday paid off handsomely.

"We were fresh and able to set the tempo of the game high," Wolecki Black said. "Zhilstroy relied on the same players for three games in six days and that is tough.

"Qualifying for a fourth successive season is a tremendous achievement. We're going to go into the draw next week as 13th seeds, so once again we'll avoid any of the big hitters in the last 32."

It didn't take long to establish City were vastly more accomplished as they went ahead after just nine minutes. Brown and Jo Love combined to set up a chance for Leanne Crichton, whose side-footed shot should have been saved by Zhilstroy captain Iryna Sanina.

But the keeper spilled the ball and as she floundered Denise O'Sullivan stepped in to take the gift. Zhilstroy's lethargic afternoon got worse when Brown provided a cross for Love to beat Sanina with a downward header.

As in the opening two games, City's crisp, fast-moving outfield play was far superior to anything their opponents could muster.

Brown's goal in the second half, was worth waiting for. She cut in from the right and struck in a fierce left-foot shot from 20 yards. "I saw where the keeper was standing and just went for it," she said.

City made it four just before the hour. Brown knocked Abbi Grant's cross into the path of O'Sullivan and the Republic of Ireland international again scored from close range.

City's superiority was emphasised when they brought on 15-year-old substitute Carla Boyce for another taste of European football after a starting debut against Glentoran.

In the other group game the team from Northern Ireland beat Slovakians Nove Zamky 5-2.
