BIG LES (Newlands) - Can you provide any information on the international career of Pat Crerand who played for Celtic and Manchester United.

Pat was a hard-tackling midfield player who was also renowned as a great passer of the ball.

He won 16 full caps for Scotland during a career which spanned three decades.

Pat signed for Celtic in 1958 and retired as a Manchester United player in 1971.

His first full international came against Republic of Ireland in 1961 and his last was against Poland in 1965.

During this period he played against:

Republic of Ireland twice.

Northern Ireland 3 times.

Czechoslovakia 3 times.

Wales twice.

England twice.

Poland twice.

Finland once.

Uruguay once.

He was on the winning side on nine occasions but never scored a goal for the national team.

ROBERT (Glasgow) - Q My father used to rave about an inside-forward called Tony Green, who played for Albion Rovers. I know he left Rovers to play down South and I think he played for Scotland. Can you provide any details?

A Tony Green was born in Kinning Park, Glasgow on 30th October 30, 1946.

He played for Drumchapel Amateurs and Kirkintilloch Rob Roy before signing for Albion Rovers.

In May 1967, he signed for Blackpool and soon became a fans' favourite with his exceptional ball control and dribbling skills.

In 1971 he was transferred to Newcastle united where he was again very popular with the fans.

Sadly, his career was hampered by injuries and, after receiving a particularly bad knee ligament injury in a game against Crystal Palace, he was forced to retire from the game in December 1973.

He made his international debut in 1971, when he came on as a substitute in a game against Belgium, and went on to win a total of six caps for Scotland.
