SCORING twice on his return to the Arsenal starting line-up left Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain delighted as the Gunners reclaimed top spot in the Barclays Premier League.
The 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the Emirates was Arsenal's eighth from their last nine matches. They lead Manchester City - who play third-placed Chelsea tonight - by two points
Two minutes after the break Oxlade-Chamberlain put on a run to collect Santi Cazorla's ball forward, and tipped it over Palace keeper Julian Speroni from close range.
He doubled the Gunners' lead on 73 minutes, beating Speroni with a powerful low shot after a clever one-two with Olivier Giroud.
Oxlade-Chamberlain said getting the two was "amazing" and added: "It was a tough game against Palace and they made it hard for us in the first half.
"But in the second half we knew if we kept the tempo up and kept wearing them down then we'd get more opportunities, and we did."
In the earlier game yesterday Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw at West Brom.
