SCOTLAND star Alan Hutton has completed an amazing comeback at Aston Villa by signing a new three-year contract with the club.

The former Rangers right back had previously been frozen out for two years and had not played under boss Paul Lambert until this season.

He was loaned out to Nottingham Forest, Real Mallorca and Bolton and in February Lambert said Hutton's £40,000-a-week wages meant he couldn't afford to play him.

But he has starred this term in Villa's great start to the Premier League.

"I kept my head down, worked hard, and it has paid off," Hutton said. "Now I just want to take this opportunity given to me by the manager.

"I've been able to come back strong this season. The benefits of that have been excellent for me.

"We've made a really strong start and want to continue in that vein. The squad has depth and a great mix of youth and experience which should stand us in good stead."

Hutton was signed by Alex McLeish from Spurs for £3million in 2011 but did not feature after Lambert replaced the ex-Gers and Scotland boss in 2012.
