CHELSEA manager Jose Mourinho hit out at Spain boss Vicente del Bosque after discovering that Diego Costa's hamstring problem was made worse on international duty.

The injury has plagued the striker this season yet he was played for almost all of last week's Euro 2016 qualifers against Slovakia and Luxembourg.

The £32million signing from Atletico Madrid will now miss tonight's Champions League clash with Maribor and is struggling to be fit for Sunday's trip to Manchester United.

Mourinho is angry that not only did Costa come back to his club crocked but he's had no contact with Del Bosque about the player's condition.

The Blues boss said: "It is the same problem he's had already but now it is an injury, not an 'almost injury'. The match at Old Trafford isn't important, Maribor is important and Costa cannot play."

Revealing that he's not spoken to Spain's manager about his frontman, Mourinho added: "You're not happy when you give players to a national team in good condition and you receive the players back in a bad condition.

"Some managers have very open communications with me but some others simply don't care.

"Year after year I don't get a single text message or phone call.

"Since the start of the season, I have received only one call from all the national teams and that was from Roy Hodgson, the England manager."

Mourinho has no intention of making wholesale changes for a match that Chelsea are keen to win after a home draw with Schalke and an away win at Sporting Lisbon.

And he insists he will not underestimate a team that reached the group stage at Celtic's expense.

He added: "I don't rest players. We must play with the best we have.

"We studied Maribor. I'm happy because my players now know they are a difficult opponent."

Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes Yaya Toure is ready to hit his best form as he travels to Moscow to face CSKA.

Last year the Ivory Coast star was racially abused by home fans in Russia but tomorrow's tie at the Khimki Arena will be played behind closed doors due to repeated misbehaviour by CSKA's notorious supporters.

Toure has not got back to his formidable best but his manager said: "I don't agree that Yaya has had a bad season.

"He was brilliant last year and just needs time to get back to that level.

"But he is still a very important player for us. Every game he is playing better. He is now getting back to his normal form."
