SCOTLAND have found the formula - now they need to find the results.
Assistant coach, Mark McGhee, believes the last four performances have confirmed Gordon Strachan has established the best way for his team to play.
Consistency established, the push is now on to deliver the wins which will propel Scotland back up the rankings.
As he helped prepare the players for Tuesday's game against Croatia, McGhee said: "The important thing for me is that the four games since Croatia have looked the same. You can now say, 'We know how Scotland play.' Before, you couldn't say that.
"If you can get that consistency of performance, you improve your chances of getting a result."
Meanwhile, in the wake of revelations that Berti Vogts invited Wayne Rooney to play for Scotland after discovering he had a Scottish granny, McGhee has revealed the Scotland management team are engaged in a hush-hush investigation to establish if another 'Ikechi Anya' can be recruited to the national squad.
The Watford winger was brought aboard after it was confirmed the man with the Nigerian father and Romanian mother was born in Glasgow.
Now another mystery player, believed to be playing in England, has been contacted to see if he can find anything in his family background which would make him eligible for a call up.
McGhee added: "I threw up a name and we immediately got phones ringing. That player is now away to explore his heritage."
Robert Snodgrass - who scored the goal which gave Scotland the win in Croatia in June - has not yet joined the squad as he waits on his wife giving birth.
