FORMER Manchester United boss David Moyes looks set to miss out on the Galatasaray job after the Turks opened talks with Cesare Prandelli.

Moyes met with officials from the Istanbul giants last week as the club search for a new manager following the departure of Roberto Mancini after just one season in charge.

But the Scots' hopes of landing the position appear to be fading after Prandelli emerged as the leading candidate for the top job.

Germany gaffer Joachim Low and compatriot Jurgen Klinsmann, who saw his United States side knocked out of the World Cup this week, were also identified at frontrunners.

But it is Prandelli who is now closing in on the job just days after he resigned as boss of the Italian national side following a poor showing in Brazil that saw the Azzurri knocked out at the group stages.

Meanwhile, new Aston Villa assistant Roy Keane insists his fearsome reputation is a media creation.

The Irishman had his fair share of bust-ups with the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Mick McCarthy, to name but two, and reports of his last days as Sunderland boss only enhanced the image of an uncompromising, no-nonsense and almost domineering character.

Some of his Black Cats squad allegedly celebrated when they heard of his departure.

"I think it is a bit unfair but it doesn't keep me awake at night," he said when questioned about his reputation.

"I suppose it is part of the image which has been built up over the years, particularly through the media.

"I've worked with lads over a long period of time without any issues but, having said that, you have to be ready to have disagreements with people particularly if you all want the same things."
