RANGERS have won the Scottish League Cup on 27 occasions and one of their most convincing victories came against Motherwell in 2005...

R. DONALDSON (Glasgow) - Can you supply details of all results and scorers when Rangers won the League Cup in season 2004-05.

Rangers beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Pittodrie in the third round with goals by Ricksen and Thompson.

In the quarter-final they beat Celtic 2-1 at Ibrox with goals by Prso and Arveladze.

In the semi-final at Hampden they beat Dundee United 7-1 with goals from Novo (2), Thompson (2), Prso, Buffel and Ricksen.

In the final at Hampden they beat Motherwell 5-1 with goals from Kyrgiakos (2), Ross, Ricksen and Novo.

Rangers did not enter the competition until the third round.

R. JAMIESON (Glasgow) - Looking for the Celtic team against Montrose in a third round Scottish Cup tie in 1979?

This match was played on January 31, 1979, at Links Park, Montrose, and Celtic won 4-2. The Hoops team was Latchford, McGrain, Lynch, Filippi, MacDonald, Edvaldsson, Provan, MacLeod, McCluskey, Lennox and Doyle. The substitutes were Conroy and McAdam.

Scorers for Celtic were McCluskey (3) and a Lynch penalty. The attendance was estimated at 3,000.

W. OSBORNE (Greenock) - Can you tell me if anyone has won the World Cup both as a player and a manager?

Only two men have achieved this feat. Franz Beckenbauer won the trophy as a player in 1974 when West Germany defeated Holland 2-1 in the final, and he managed the victorious West German side in the 1990 tournament.

He is the only person to captain and manage winning teams in World Cup Finals history.

But Mario Zagallo can arguably top that achievement.

Zagallo won the trophy twice as a player (1958 and 1962) and he coached the great Brazil side that lifted the trophy in 1970.

Zagallo was also an assistant to Carlos Alberto Parreira when Brazil won in 1994, and he scored one of Brazil's goals in the 1958 final.

GRAHAM (Port Glasgow) - Can you tell me who was the English international goalkeeper against whom Morton legend Andy Ritchie scored a hat-trick in the space of 15 minutes. I've been racking my brains to answer this one.

Rack no more! Legendary Chelsea and England keeper Peter Bonetti had a spell at Dundee United at the end of his career.

On September 29, 1979, Dundee United lost 4-1 to Morton at Cappielow, with all the goals being scored in a 16-minute period.

Ritchie got his hat-trick despite being up against the famous United defensive pairing of David Narey and Paul Hegarty.

Willie Pettigrew opened the scoring for United after 52 minutes. Within 60 seconds Ritchie had equalised.

Ally Scott put Morton ahead after 60 minutes before Ritchie notched two more goals on 65 and 68 minutes.

JANICE HENDERSON (Lanark) - Have you any details of a match in the mid-70s when Airdrieonians won 7-1 away to Queen of the South? I think Sandy Clark scored a hat-trick.

This was a First Division match at Palmerston Park on September 13, 1975, when Clark was only 18.

The teams were:

Queens: Ball, Miller, Thorburn, McLaren, Boyd, O'Hara, Dempster, Reid, Low, Dickson and Bryce.

Airdrieonians: McWilliams, Jonquin, Lapsley, Anderson, Black, Whiteford, McRoberts, Menzies, Clark, McCulloch and Wilson.

Scorers for Airdrie were Clark (3, 1 pen), Whiteford (2), Jonquin (pen) and Menzies.Reid scored for Queens. The crowd was given as 2,800.
