WILLIE WADDELL is regarded by many Rangers fans as one of the most formidable characters in the club's history.

He had a 50-year association with Rangers and had the vision to transform Ibrox into a magnificent all-seater stadium.

CALLUM (Partick) - Willie Waddell obviously was successful as a manager winning the European Cup-Winners' Cup for Rangers and the League Championship with Kilmarnock but how successful was he as a player?

Willie Waddell only played for one club in his professional career and it was Rangers.

He began his playing days at the Light Blues in 1939 and would stay there for 16 years until he hung up his boots. As a winger, Waddell made 201 appearances for Rangers scoring 39 goals, he won the Scottish League Championship five times and the Scottish Cup four times whilst at the club.

He also won 17 caps for Scotland scoring six times for his country.

OOR WILLIE (Glasgow) - Please give a typical Johnstone Burgh team Bobby Wraith would have played in when he was re-instated to Junior football from Celtic. Was he replaced by Davie McWilliams?

Our Junior FA only retain the team lines for a year, so perhaps the club secretary may be able to help you.

Bobby Wraith made only one appearance in goal for Celtic against Hamilton Academicals on September 25, 1968.

In February 1969 he travelled to the San Siro for the European Cup quarter-final against AC Milan.

Ronnie Simpson was injured and Bobby was on the bench as cover for John Fallon.

He was released by Celtic in May 1969. Our registrations show that he signed for Johnstone Burgh on July 17, 1969, but it was cancelled on July 31, 1969.

We believe he signed for English League side Southport FC on July 22, 1969.

The goalkeeper Davie McWilliams signed for Johnstone Burgh on June 3, 1970.

DAN THE MAN (Helensburgh) - Scotland, of course, were the first team to beat England after they won the World Cup in 1966. However, how many games did they go undefeated after becoming unofficial World Champions?

After Scotland's famous 3-2 win at Wembley on April 15, 1967, their very next match ended in defeat. Less than a month later they lost 2-0 to USSR in a friendly at Hampden.
