REFEREES chief John Fleming is confident Scottish whistlers will continue to shine at home and abroad next season.

The new domestic campaign kicked-off last weekend with the first round matches in the Petrofac Training Cup and 28 clubs will begin their bid for League Cup success on Saturday.

All four SPFL divisions will begin the following weekend and our officials headed to Stirling University yesterday to continue their preparations for the new season.

The SFA conducted fitness tests and put on practical seminars to ensure the men in the middle are in top shape this summer as their new Specsavers branded kit was launched.

And head of referee operations Fleming said: "The new domestic season is just around the corner and today provided us with the chance to bring our referees together for a day of preparation work.

"The referees performed at a high level both domestically and internationally last season and I am confident we will see those high standards maintained this season.

"We're delighted to launch our new referee kit for the forthcoming season and are grateful to Specsavers for their continued support."
