MARSHALL (5) Misjudged a Joseph Chipolina cross early on and nearly gifted Gibraltar a shock lead.

Was let down by his defence for the goal. That apart, he was fine.

HUTTON (6) The Aston Villa right overlapped regularly. Recovered after tripping himself up on the Hampden turf in the second half.

MARTIN (5) Not the centre half's most demanding outing. But he looked happier when he was joined in the heart of the rearguard by Gordon Greer ion the second half.

ROBERTSON (6) Nowhere to be seen at the Gibraltar goal. But was the controversial 3-2-4-1 system to blame for that? Very possibly. The young left back was fine otherwise.

BROWN (6) The Celtic captain was untroubled by seriously limited opposition. Carried out his duties with complete professionalism.

MORRISON (6) Enjoyed renewing his partnership with Scott Brown in the centre of midfield for Scotland once again. Barely broke sweat.

RITCHIE (4) The Bournemouth winger was removed at half-time as Scotland switched to a more orthodox 4-4-2. But he didn't distinguish himself.

NAISMITH (6) Won a penalty and took his goal before half-time well. Strove to add to his tally and that of his side before being replaced by Jordan Rhodes midway through the second half.

MALONEY (7) Excellent. Tucked away two penalties and set up Naismith for a goal in the first half. His move to the United States has clearly been to his liking.

ANYA (6) Another who could have done better at the Gibraltar goal. Gave the minnows acres of space. But he atoned for that and teed up Steven Fletcher and Steven Naismith in the first half.

FLETCHER (8) The first Scotland player in 46 years to score a hat-trick. Nodded in headers in each half and then drilled in a low shot at the death. It will do his confidence at international level wonders.

REPLACEMENTS

GREER (5) Hardly tested.

RHODES (5) Shot into the side netting when he really should have converted. Set up Fletcher for his second.

BANNAN (5) Supplied Rhodes with an inch-perfect pass and then teed up Fletcher for his hat-trick.
