SCOTLAND take on Uefa's newest members Gibraltar tomorrow as Gordon Strachan's men look to take another step towards next year's European Championships in France.

The minnows have shipped 21 goals in four qualifiers so far, including 7-0 thrashings from Poland and Ireland, and bookmakers McBookie.com is offering 66/1 that the Dark Blues will record their highest-ever winning margin by topping the 11-0 thrashing of Ireland from 1901.

Here, we look back on Scotland's biggest triumphs:

Scotland 9 Wales 0 - March 23, 1878

International football was still in its infancy but that did not prevent the Scots from walloping their Celtic neighbours with a nine-goal blitz at the old Hampden Park.

Wales 1 Scotland 8 - March 23, 1885

Joseph Lindsay became just the fifth player to net a hat-trick for Scotland as Wales were again thumped at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground.

Ireland 2 Scotland 10 - March 24, 1888

Belfast's Solitude Ground was the scene as William Dickson became the first Scot to hit four goals in a single match. Nine men have matched that tally since but no one has ever topped it.

Scotland 7 Ireland 0 - March 9, 1889

Ireland were against the unlucky losers as Celtic striker Willie Groves netted a treble at Ibrox.

Wales 0 Scotland 8 - March 18, 1893

Rangers forward John Barker got his Scotland career off to the perfect start as he notched another hat-trick against the Welsh in Wrexham. Strangely, though, he would only play once more for his country.

Scotland 9 Ireland 1 - March 25, 1899

Forward Robert Smyth McColl - the founder of the well-known chain of newsagents - struck his second treble in a week against Ireland a week after doing the same to Wales.

Scotland 11 Ireland 0 - February 23, 1901

Remains Scotland's biggest ever win to this day. Celtic's Sandy McMahon and Rangers striker Robert Hamilton both struck four times as the Irish buckled at Celtic Park.

Scotland 8 Cyprus 0 - May 17, 1969

Colin Stein became the last man to score four times for the Dark Blues as the Mediterranean islanders were swept aside in this 1970 World Cup qualifier at Hampden. It was also the last time the Scots would rack up an eight-goal winning margin.
