SHAUN MALONEY today predicted Scotland will go on the offensive in their vital Euro 2016 qualifier against Georgia.

Maloney and his team-mates got their Group D campaign off to an encouraging start last month against World Cup winners Germany.

Gordon Strachan's side drew level with the newly-crowned world champions over in Dortmund thanks to a second half Ikechi Anya goal. However, the national team still ended up losing 2-1 after Thomas Muller netted his second goal of the game.

Maloney, who came off the bench in the Westfalenstadion, knows Scotland have to pick up all three points in their second game at Ibrox tomorrow night.

And the Wigan Athletic forward reckons the Tartan Army could be treated to a more attacking display this weekend.

He said: "We will change the way that we play considering that we are now at home to Georgia.

"They play a different formation with a back three. so there will be tactical changes compared to being reasonably defensive against the Germans out there.

"I don't think there will be wholescale changes, it will just be tactical.

"Particularly when we have the ball we will be looking to keep possession a lot better than we did in Germany."

Maloney has revealed the Scotland players have been challenged to improve upon their Germany display by their manager.

He said: "I think we played quite well for spells in the second half of the Germany game.

"We watched part of that match this week with the manager and he pointed out towards the end of the meeting the positives and the chances we created in the second half.

"Overall, it was pretty positive despite the result. However, he still thinks that we can play better, particularly on the ball."

Scotland have enjoyed great success with the 4-2-3-1 formation that Strachan has favoured since taking charge at the start of last year.

And Maloney believes the national boss will keep faith with that set-up in the double-header against Georgia and Poland.

He said: "We have played that formation for the last 12 months, maybe a bit longer.

"We started using it around the Croatia game and the manager has talked about not being miles away from that formation.

"So I don't think you will see anything too radical in these two games. However, you never know. The manager might change the team or the formation."

Georgia suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to the Republic of Ireland in their opening Group D match last month after Aiden McGeady netted his second goal in the final minute.

Maloney, who has recovered from the hip surgery that he underwent last season, is expecting a difficult encounter with Temuri Ketsbaia's side.

He said: "We have watched videos of them this week. They will be an organised team.

"Georgia play a back three, which is diffferent to most national sides, bar a couple.

"I am certain it will be a little bit cagey to start with, as most games are in international football.

"It will be a tough match, but it is one that we have got to look forward to, and are looking forward to."
