BRAEHEAD CLAN will take to the ice this weekend for the first time this season as they contest the RV Holiday Inn Cup in Sheffield.
Ryan Finnerty’s men will take on the Steelers over two legs before their attention turns to the serious business of the Champions Hockey League next week when they will travel to Sweden and Germany.
Any footsoldiers in the Purple Army making the trip south today will be keen to see how their team gets on against former Clan defenceman and fan favourite Zack ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, who switched allegiances during the summer.
Fitzy said: "The decision to move on from Braehead after last season was tough and we met a lot of good people that made my wife and I very welcome.
"The Scottish people were nice in general and I appreciated the opportunity I got to play there.
"I'll miss everyone and I hope I don't get booed too badly when I come up."
