ESOTERIQUE and Integral go head-to-head for the fifth time in the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes and the first-named is expect to emerge victorious at Newmarket.

The Andre Fabre-trained Esoterique and Sir Michael Stoute's Integral currently have two wins apiece, but the French raider arrives at the top of her game while Integral has suffered an interrupted campaign and appears to be facing an uphill battle to retain her crown.

Esoterique could finish only fourth on the Rowley Mile in 2014 but she has been punching her weight in top company this term, being beaten just a length by the outstanding Solow in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot before finding only Muhaarar too good when dropped back to six and a half furlongs for the Prix Maurice de Gheest in August.

Stepped back up to a mile for the Jacques le Marois just a week later, Esoterique swooped late and fast to see off Classic-placed runner Territories by a length and a half, ranking her among the best milers in Europe this term.

She is certainly the best in the field on the official figures and while she disappointed slightly last year, Esoterique can right that statistic this time with Irish Rookie taken to fill a place at a decent price.

Nimr let down favourite-backers at Newmarket last month but should be given a chance to redeem himself in the £500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2yo Trophy, with Alice Springs the choice in the £300,000 Tattersalls Millions 2yo Fillies' Trophy.

She finished a fine fourth in the Cheveley Park Stakes last week and that kind of Group One form stands her in excellent stead in this richly-endowed event.

Hillstar can finally return to winning ways in the Gigaset Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot after what has been a dismal season.

The five-year-old was a Grade One winner in Canada but subsequently suffered an illness that seems to have blighted his campaign, with four starts yielding little joy.

However, this does not look the strongest Group Three and given he really began to sparkle around this time last year, all is perhaps not quite lost yet.

Polybius is worth a chance as he steps up to Group Three company in the John Guest Bengough Stakes following a recent Newmarket Listed win.

David Lanigan's charge overcame a tardy start to win nicely from the reopposing Naadirr and given that was only his 11th career start, there should still be a little something in the locker to work with.

It is Redcar's big day and Mayfair Lady is the shout in the totepool Two-Year-Old Trophy.

Winner of two of her five starts this term, including a five-length romp in a competitive York heat, Mayfair Lady found the switch up to Group Three company beyond her at Salisbury.

Soft ground did not appear to help her cause as she was beaten nearly eight lengths by La Rioja but better ground combined with the favourable conditions of the race make her a strong contender in what is always a tough heat.

Chica Rapida can live up to her name in the Julia Gautier Memorial Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Wolverhampton, while Somchine can make a winning return in Fontwell's Southern Water Water Efficiency Handicap Chase.
