TWO of the world's top speedway riders are set to line-up in Glasgow after the club secured a glamour friendly to start the season.

Chris 'Bomber' Harris, the experienced Speedway Grand Prix star and three-time British Champion, will lead Elite League side Coventry Bees north to face the Tigers on Sunday, March 27.

Cornishman Harris - who finished fifth in the 2010 world championship and takes part again in 2016 - will be joined by the four-time World Cup champion and 2014 world No 2 Krzysztof Kasprzak, of Poland. The 31-year-old has numerous international honours to his name including three Grand Prix victories.

Also making the trip will be the hotly sought-after Pole Kacper Woryna, 19, who is set to make his UK debut in 2016, having been recommended to the Bees by their two top men. He was part of his country's under-21 side that won last year's European Championship.

Meanwhile, 2015 Tigers favourite James Sarjeant will make a swift return to the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium with the Bees. His fellow Englishman Danny King - a former Ashfield track record holder - will complete a potent top five for Coventry, one that will be among the strongest ever seen at Glasgow.

Both Jason Garrity and Josh Bates will miss out as they are racing for Sheffield on the same day, but the visitors plan to promote two riders from their National League side, Coventry Storm, into the reserve berths.

Harris, 33, expects a close contest despite the sides being in different leagues.

He said: "It's been a long time since I've ridden at Glasgow, so I'm looking forward to it. The last time I was there would've been around 2003 with Trelawny Tigers.

"It's a lot different to when I was there last. Everyone has done a fantastic job in upgrading the stadium.

"I always enjoyed going there and when I was there visiting at the end of last year, it looked a lot more fun to ride. Hopefully the fans can come out and support it.

"You've still got good riders at Glasgow - even though it's a Premier League team, there are riders with Elite League experience that are doubling-up with teams in the Elite League this year.

"You would never underestimate any standard of rider because on their home track, they're very good - they know the racing lines and where to put the bike - and I think it's going to be a tough meeting for Coventry."

Glasgow team manager Stewart Dickson said: "We had wanted to do something a little bit different and I think what is planned with the Coventry team will make it a more even contest.

"It gives the supporters the chance to see some different faces with the likes of Harris, Kasprzak and Woryna - who I'm sure will have plenty of quality.

"Hopefully people will come out and support it - I'm excited by it myself. The Glasgow fans will want to
