LADY luck hasn't had Nike Lunna on her list so far this season.

But the Finnish flyer says he's ready to shake off his misfortune and put in some big performances for Glasgow as they prepare to compete on two fronts this weekend.

The men in red and white go to Berwick on Saturday knowing that a point or more will secure their place in the League Cup semi-finals.

On Sunday, they take on Redcar Bears to kick off their Premier League campaign.

The Tigers were runners-up in both competitions last season - but bosses hope that Lunna, 19, can be a trump card in their bid for glory this term.

The U21 international has seen himself either hitting the deck or suffering mechanical problems in all three of his Glasgow meetings so far. However, he's ready to put that right.

He said: "I've had very bad luck but I've still got the speed and we've made some changes to the bike, so it is getting better.

"I'm looking forward to it. When we get everything right, and the bad luck is over, I think we will score very good points and really be happy after the meeting. I think I just need some time and when I've had more races, it will come.

"I think every meeting is important, but of course when the Premier League starts, we want to start it strong. I think we have a very good chance."But I do my best - it doesn't matter what meeting it is."

Lunna is loving his new surroundings this year, and although Berwick isn't his favourite track, he hopes that a year's worth of experience last year with Scunthorpe will benefit him when he goes away this season.

He said: "Berwick is quite narrow and it makes it hard to pass. But last year was hard for me and everything was new - so I think this year can be better.

"Everything is looking better than last year. It's a great club with great fans - I like the city as well - and everyone looks after you.

"It's so much more professional at Glasgow. We have a good stadium and we chat with the fans after the meeting, like it should be. I enjoy things like that.

"I like racing - of course, I like it because I don't make the starts - but Glasgow is a good track. The shape of the corners is good - it's like going downhill. There is space for racing.

"I don't fear anything, but you just need to keep your head and focus in the moment when you're making a pass. If you think something will go wrong then there is no chance to win. You just need to think, I can win, it doesn't matter who is next to me."

Both Berwick and Redcar could be without key men for the weekend clashes. Bandits trio Thomas Jorgensen, Matthew Wethers and Anders Mellgren are all doubts for the meeting on Saturday, while the Bears' No 1 Lasse Bjerre has been hurt in a crash in Denmark and misses his side's clash tonight, although it's not yet confirmed if he'll make it on Sunday.

It's hoped that Richie Worrall will return to the Tigers side after he withdrew from Sunday's home match against Berwick following a heavy crash with Wethers.
