Paul Eales was today savouring becoming a member of an exclusive club after winning the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open at Archerfield Links.

The 53-year-old Englishman came from seven shots behind at the start of the final round to win by a stroke with a closing four-under 68 for an 11-under 205.

Eales, who pipped Peter Fowler and Santiago Luna to the crown, first made his mark on the European professional stage 25 years ago when he won on the Challenge Tour in 1991 before claiming his one and only title on the main European circuit in 1994.

Having earned his maiden among the over-50s, the Eales became only the seventh player to win on all three levels of the European scene.

Eales, who picked up a cheque for £38,000, said: “I’ve not been challenging at all really over the years on the Senior Tour and this is the first time I really got myself in with a chance to win in the final round. To win on all three Tours is very pleasing."

On the main European Tour, meanwhile, Glasgow’s Marc Warren finished in a share of 11th at the D+D REAL Czech Masters in Prague.

The three-time Tour champ signed off with a two-under 70 for a seven-under 281 and finished seven behind American winner Paul Peterson.
