RENE Bach insists Glasgow Tigers have the stomach for a title fight ahead of two crucial Premier League ties this weekend.

The Tigers' dependable Dane hopes to give the Ashfield club's silverware hopes a real boost away at Edinburgh and Workington tomorrow and Saturday.

The Scottish rivals are battling it out with Newcastle to finish second and gain an all-important bye in the first round of the championship play-offs.

If Glasgow can win at Armadale, the Monarchs will only be able to get third at best.

Workington are already out of the running but it's Bach's former home of several years, and a meeting that the Tigers are also eyeing for potential points.

The 26-year-old said: "Things are going pretty good. I was a bit disappointed about running a last place in heat 15 on Sunday but I'm still very happy about riding for Glasgow.

"Every meeting from now on is very important, but I'm looking forward to it and hopefully we can go and win at least one of them this weekend.

"Edinburgh is one of those tracks where I've scored 14 points and I've scored three. But it's one of the best-prepared tracks in the Premier League.

"We have a good team for the Workington track - everyone goes well there. They also have a good team so I'm sure that will be some meeting.

"When Glasgow rang me about signing for them, one of the first things they said was, 'We want to win trophies'. I knew from the beginning they wouldn't be happy about second places but I like it that way.

"I feel we are pretty strong all the way through. Getting beat by Somerset at home was maybe a good thing as we know we can't take it easy. This is when the season becomes fun and it's now we all need to prove what we can do."

With Richard Lawson now back at No 1, captain Aaron Summers moves to No 3 for the away trips - pairing him with Bach in a potentially potent engine room. Richie Worrall, who has excelled at Edinburgh this season, is at No 5.

Newcastle sit third, eight points behind Glasgow, but with three matches in hand.
