OLYMPIC gold medallist Katie Archibald has been named in the Great Britain team that will compete at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Glasgow next month.

Her fellow Scots Mark Stewart and Jack Carlin will also be in action at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome from November 4-6.

Confirmed in the line-up is double Olympic champion Steven Burke and multiple world and European medallist Andy Tennant.

The event marks the opening round of the 2016/17 UCI World Cup Series.

British Cycling head coach Iain Dyer said: “With the European Track Championships due to take place in Paris next weekend, we move on from there to round one of the world cup series with a fairly similar line-up.

“It’s predominantly a development team, with the exception of Katie, Steve and Andy Tennant, which is to be expected at this stage of the Olympic cycle. These young riders have been presented with a great opportunity to step up and compete at world cup level and, thanks to Team Breeze, we are able to enter an extra four female senior academy riders into this event.

“The Great Britain Cycling Team’s track squad is fortunate to be able to compete at major events on home soil on a fairly regular basis and it’s something which we’re all very grateful for. It is always an enjoyable experience and I know this team of young riders are looking forward to racing with the support of a home crowd behind them.”
