Laura Muir smashed the British indoor 5,000 metres record at the Glasgow Miler Meet on Wednesday evening.
The 23-year-old Scot eclipsed the previous national best set by Liz McColgan 25 years ago as she ran a time of 14 minutes 49.12 seconds.
"I am delighted to get it and it is nice to know now where I am at in terms of the 5,000m," Muir, who also holds the British 1,500m record, told the BBC.
"I've been in South Africa training, and the sessions there since we came back were at PB times for 5,000m so I felt good going into tonight's race."
She tweeted after the race: "MUIR IS BACK ON THE TRACK!! Oh yeah!! 5000m British Indoor Record tonight."
