AARON SUMMERS has been up all night lately ...

But the Glasgow Tigers captain isn't struggling to sleep - he has been chatting to his dedicated speedway bosses about the team's scintillating start to the season.

And the Aussie, 27, is now desperate to make their dreams come true by giving them another Premier League win on Sunday against Scunthorpe - and taking his side all the way to the title.

Summers has revealed how co-owners Gerry and Michael Facenna - who run local firm Allied Vehicles - have been burning the midnight oil to make the club a success.

The brothers bought Tigers in December and have since completed a near £1million overhaul of their Peugeot Ashfield Stadium home.

They got a massive reward on Tuesday night when their home meeting with Sheffield was broadcast live on Sky Sports for the first time ever.

Summers, who bagged nine points in Tuesday's win, said: "It was great to see such a big crowd there - even in the big Elite League meetings, you don't really see a crowd like that. There was plenty of support and it always urges us boys to go even harder when people are behind us.

"The crowd and the win will have pleased Michael and Gerry - that's what they want to see. They've put together a team to win and we've got to produce it, especially on Sunday.

"It's good to see that they're getting their enjoyment out of it after the amount of work they're putting in. It's seven days a week. I send Gerry messages and speak with him, and it's sometimes 2am or 3am, and he's still awake.

"They're putting a lot of work in and long days, so it's great to see such a good night like that for them."

Media figures said on Tuesday night that Ashfield was good enough to host World Cup matches or Elite League speedway.

Summers agrees it's that good - and has urged fans to come and sample what is fast becoming the country's top speedway venue.

He added: "Without Michael and Gerry, the new era wouldn't have happened. It would be great to see more people like them in the sport.

"They're putting together the best facilities in speedway. You don't go to many tracks these days where everything is run so professionally."

Glasgow suffered more weather woe on Thursday night when their visit to Ipswich in the Premier League succumbed to rain just a couple of hours before it was due to start.

They had been travelling light, with both Victor Palovaara and Dimitri Berge engaged overseas. Berge had a successful time on the continent when he finished second in the first round of the Long Track World Championship in Germany.

However, both will return for Scunthorpe's visit. The Scorpions will come armed with ex-Tiger Theo Pijper, who ended last season at No.1 for Glasgow, as well as the experienced David Howe and exciting Englishman Josh Auty.

The visitors are due to have two guests at the lower end of the team - Matt Williamson comes in for the injured Ellis Perks, and Danny Phillips replaces Nike Lunna, who will be in his native Finland as reserve for the Grand Prix there on Saturday night.
