GLASGOW hope to have completed their 2015 line-up with the signing of 26-year-old Aaron Summers.

The Australian, who has vast Elite and Premier League experience in the UK, has signed on a full transfer from Redcar for an undisclosed fee.

Summers has joined on a 7.78 average, making him the Tigers' third heatleader for the upcoming campaign.

He will line up along side Richard Lawson and Nick Morris to spearhead Glasgow's first league challenge under new owners Michael and Gerry Facenna, of Allied Vehicles. The club have also signed Kozza Smith, Dimitri Berge, James Sarjeant and Victor Palovaara.

The line-up will be complete subject to the resolution of the ongoing visa application process for Smith, of Australia, who is one of several overseas riders working to secure permission to race in British speedway this year.

Summers, who rode for Edinburgh early in his British career, does not require such a visa. His signing makes him a full Glasgow Tigers asset.

Club co-promoter Alan Dick said: "I must say that we are absolutely delighted to complete the team with a rider of the quality of Aaron Summers, and to be able to strike a deal at a price which suited.

"Aaron is an experienced, yet still young rider, having been around the UK scene for a while now. He will certainly help to spearhead our new-look team this season both home and away, and Glasgow Speedway can only benefit from what he brings to the side.

"The negotiations to do a deal have been in progress for quite a while, however we're there now and we've completed a good bit of business as far as this club is concerned."

The Tigers issued a statement this week after news broke of the visa situation, reportedly affecting more than 20 riders.

It said: "On behalf of the club, co-promoter Colin Hamilton attended a meeting at the visas and immigration offices in Sheffield. At this meeting all attending 16 clubs, including Glasgow, were informed of a number of issues surrounding procedures relating to licences for migrant workers.

"This follows compliance visits made to all clubs by the UKVI in the closing months of 2014 and the findings of these visits were related to clubs at this meeting.

"As a result, several changes were put forward in order that the clubs can continue to bring migrant workers to the UK.

"We are taking steps at present to clarify matters with the UKVI with the objective of setting up the required steps that will enable us to proceed with visa applications.

"This affects only one team member, Kozza Smith, and he is fully aware of the situation."
