FRENCH sensation Dimitri Berge can't wait to make his return to the speedway track in Glasgow this weekend.

The 18-year-old has been sidelined for three months following a horror crash on the Ashfield shale.

But having recuperated in his home country, Berge is back and told the Tigers fans: "I'm fit and I look forward to seeing you again."

He went on: "I'm so happy and excited to be coming back.

"The crash was horrible. It was the first time it had happened to me and it was really hard mentally.

"But I'm good - I have no pain or anything now.

"A rider always needs supporting fans, and that was the case for me. I want to say thanks to them."

Berge, making his debut in British speedway this year, will slot in at reserve for Glasgow, having previously made his mark in the team's main body.

And while he's making no promises, the youngster is hopeful he can recover the form he had been showing in April - which had led to several appearances in the top-scorers' heat 15.

Berge added: "I must ride more intelligently. I can't know for the moment what riding at reserve will mean.

"I don't know how my form will be, but I'm hopeful."

Glasgow take on Berwick Bandits on Sunday in the Premier League with a 3pm start.

The home side are hopeful that the unlucky Christian Henry will also make his return to action following a couple of injuries.

The away side arrive with a few Ashfield experts in tow, including former Tiger David Bellego - also a Frenchman - and the Australians Kevin Doolan and Matthew Wethers.

Tigers team manager Stewart Dickson said: "Hopefully we will get Dimitri in for a practice this week.

"I'd like to get him in a day and get the track as close to what we get it on racedays.

"Hopefully, we will have all seven riders back on track this week against Berwick - who are a good side - so that'll be interesting."
