BRAEHEAD CLAN are prepared to play a waiting game in an attempt to lure Kyle Jones back to Glasgow.

The Canadian netminder was voted on to the Elite League team of the year for this season after a raft of stunning performances between the pipes in purple.

During his second campaign for Clan, the 31-year-old recorded a stunning 91.6% save rate while achieving nine clean sheets.

It is no secret that Jones has earned a special place in the hearts of Braehead supporters and staff alike.

He regularly was awarded man of the match and played an integral role in Ryan Finnerty's team clinching second place in the league, their highest- ever placing.

The Clan head coach had previously revealed he had ambitions to keep Jones in Scotland for a third season, claiming he was the best goalie in the league.

And it now appears the Braehead hierarchy are ready to do what it takes to get their man back.

Bosses at the club have made their intentions clear to their star goalie, who is thought to be back in his homeland already, that he is their No.1 choice to be their netminder for their first foray into the Champions Hockey League.

Finnerty has already had discussions with the player about a return and has indicated how important he is in his plans.

It is now a case of waiting on Jones to make up his mind.

SportTimes understands he has an option of pursuing a career outside of hockey and that would be the 'dream job' for the Canadian.

However, Braehead are hopeful that if he stays within the game, he will be back in Glasgow next year.

While Clan have already started their recruitment process with the acquisition of Jordan Cownie - with potential signing announcements expected - Braehead bosses are prepared for Jones to take his time in coming to a decision.

Tweeting about his future last week, the goalie said: "First of all I want to thank all the great Clan fans for their amazing support all season. You are the most passionate fans in the league!

"Secondly, every player re-evaluates life after every season. That being said, no decision either way has been made yet on my part."
