A lot has happened in the last couple weeks and fortunately all good things.

The team is unbeaten after the first four games and surprisingly we haven't even started to play out best hockey.

Away from the rink this past week has been just as interesting.

The country of Scotland is making their voice heard. Whether in support of independence or not there has been a serious buzz around Glasgow.

As an outsider living in the country my family and I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to experience, first hand, a historic period in Scotland's history books.

My favorite aspect of the Independence Referendum is the passion and comradery the Scots have shown for wanting what's best for their nation: regardless of whether they are or are not in favor of Scotland to secede.

While there aren't any William Wallace's buzzing around screaming for freedom, there is no doubt the people of Scotland are a proud nation that believe in making sure they take matters into their own hands when deciding the outcome of their own.

Being from the US, our nation could only dream of having 97% of the electorate registered to vote. While back home the majority find time to complain about the status of countless issues it's the minority that actually make their opinions count via the orderly and democratic way.

Regardless of what the outcome may be this Friday morning, if I were part of the Scottish Clan I would feel comfort in knowing the future of my nation was in the hands of a population that bleed for the blue and white.

Getting back to hockey the past couple weekends have seen us take on the defending League Champions, Belfast Giants.

With the team retaining all but three from last season's roster we knew we were in for a test.

In both contests we were able to take the lead deep into the games only to let them back in as each match saw us go into overtime.

Unlike last season, where we were never able to close them out and take a win, we were able to claim victory in both games.

While giving up late leads is definitely an area we need to fix we showed how resilient we could be to not let the momentum sway too far away from us.

And in all the matches, including the Hull game, we were able to battle back for wins.

Hopefully we can continue to build off the strong performance in recently shown in Edinburgh, in which we played an almost perfect game in front of a loud and proud Purple Army (pretty much a home game with all the fans we had).

This weekend see's us facing off against the Cardiff Devils in the dreaded Big Blue Tent (A.K.A. the circus tent).

The arena is know as being extremely small resulting in the matches looking like a pinball game, as neither team has a whole lot of time to make a play with the puck.

With the arena being so small Cardiff has stuck to their recruiting methods of forming a big and physical team to try an overwhelm opponents. No bother for the boy's in Purple though.

The Fitz Machine (Zack Fitzgerald) is healthy and will be suiting up and that animal is ready to get back on the ice and make his presence felt.

Look for the fellas to feed off his energy and come out strong against the Cardiff Devils.

As long as we continue playing as a comprehensive unit the fellas should have a great chance of taking some points out the BBT.
