BRAEHEAD Clan completed a blank weekend last night when they were beaten 4-1 at Sheffield Steelers.

The Glasgow club, who lost 6-2 at Fife Flyers on Saturday, were level at 1-1 when Scott Pitt scored 20 seconds into the middle session.

That goal cancelled out one from Tyler Mosienko in six minutes but the Canadian, who is the grandson of Hall of Famer Bill Mosienko, fired two goals in 29 seconds to put Steelers in control.

His first arrived at 31min 14sec and the second at 31min 43sec. Jay Latulippe netted the fourth less than three seconds from time.

Clan coach Ryan Finnerty then heard that champions Belfast Giants had edged Nottingham Panthers to join the Scots, who topped the table yesterday morning, on 23 points.

BASKETBALL: Glasgow Rocks player-coach Sterling Davis claimed his side need to ask harsh questions of themselves after an 81-78 loss to Leicester Riders last night at the Emirates Arena which leaves them mired in mid-table in the British Basketball League.

With the rivals meeting again next weekend in the Cup quarter-finals, it was an important blow struck by the Midlands outfit who moved up to second, just two points behind leaders Newcastle Eagles.

"We had chances to win the game but we have to learn to make better decisions," Davis said.
