BRAEHEAD forward Derek Roehl wants a home Clan gathering to witness what he hopes is the first of three pieces of silverware this season.

Ryan Finnerty's men need only one more victory to clinch their second Gardiner Conference in their history.

That opportunity comes this Saturday night with rivals Dundee Stars tasked with halting a Clan juggernaut that has steamrollered their way through the section this season.

So far Braehead have won 20 out of the 25 conference games taking them 13 points ahead of nearest rivals Fife Flyers.

And former Kirkcaldy star Roehl, who is flourishing in his first season in purple, is keen to get things tied up in front of another bumper home crowd.

"We're all desperate to get back into action and back to winning ways after the Cardiff game," said the American after Braehead's 3-0 defeat at the weekend.

"We are all hungry to win and want to tie up the conference title this weekend in front of all the fans that have supported us throughout the season.

"Dundee's form has improved in recent weeks and we can't underestimate them, they'll take confidence from our loss last weekend.

"We need to be at our best, we're still very much in the hunt for the EIHL title. Everyone around the organisation wants to finish the season off in style."

Meanwhile, Clan have confirmed the will participate in next season's Champions Hockey League if they qualify.

The Elite League has two places up for grabs for Europe's top competition with the EIHL winners and runners-up both advancing.

If the winner of the play-offs also finishes first or second in the league, then the team finishing third in the league will go forward into the other competition, the Continental Cup.

Braehead, Belfast Giants, Cardiff Devils, Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers have confirmed they will participate in the CHL if they qualify.

Ice Hockey UK general secretary Andy French, said: "It is excellent news that two teams from the UK will play in next season's CHL.

"This year's competition was a great success and captured the imagination across Europe.

"I know the CHL were thrilled to have UK involvement this season and they were impressed with what they saw from the Panthers on and off the ice.

"This is great news for ice hockey in the UK and continues to put us on the map."
