SPEEDWAY boss Stewart Dickson has called on his riders to attack the Glasgow track - and give the season a spectacular send-off.

The Tigers will face Berwick this Sunday (3.15pm) and Workington next week in two re-arranged fixtures before the curtain comes down on 2014.

It's been an up and down season for the Ashfield men under the management of Dickson, coming close to making the Premier League play-offs but just falling short.

Dickson has also had mixed fortunes in his additional role as track curator. While he's produced a grippier and more exciting racetrack, it's one that too many visitors have enjoyed for his liking.

Now, the team manager wants his men to show opponents how it's done round their own circuit when they take to the shale for the final times this season.

And he's turned to some wise words from a Tigers legend to make his case.

"I remember Shane Parker telling me, 'There's no such thing as too much dirt on a track'. But for some reason, a couple of riders - if they don't have a good meeting - blame the track," said Dickson.

"I know Newcastle's Danny King smashed the track record to bits last time and as he left the stadium, he came over to me and a couple of track staff, and said to us, 'That track was perfect'.

"It's nice to hear that, but I'd prefer to hear that from my own riders."

Two men the Glasgow team manager knows will relish their Ashfield visit on Sunday are Berwick's Claus Vissing and David Bellego. The latter is a former Tiger himself, having won the 2011 Premier League title with the club in his debut British season.

"They're going to thrive on the track on Sunday, because it's a racers' track. We need to match them," said Dickson.

"There are two matches to go that we want to win. I hope the supporters come out for the last couple of matches in big numbers, because it's a long winter ahead - we all count down the weeks until the season starts. Hopefully, they'll come out and we can give them something to cheer about."
