STEWART Dickson said his Glasgow Tigers simply weren't good enough as table-toppers Edinburgh Monarchs put them to the sword.

The men from the east cemented their place atop the Premier League with the 54-36 win.

Tigers captain Theo Pijper stormed to 14 points and Kasper Lykke battled to a score of eight, but they were just about the only high points for the home men.

The only consolation for the Ashfield side was that this match had no bearing on their play-off push - with hopes of making the end-of-season showdown having already ended with a heavy defeat at Edinburgh on Friday.

However, Dickson was still disappointed that his six riders on the day couldn't restore some pride.

The team manager said: "It's disappointing. Edinburgh were just too strong for us in every department.

"I didn't get the track just as grippy as I wanted but I think that's just papering over the cracks.

"There were a couple of battling performances from our guys but unfortunately it wasn't good enough - end of story."

All the Tigers have left to aim for now is the Knock Out Cup. The first leg comes tonight at Newcastle before the return at Ashfield in two weeks' time.

Dickson added: "It's going to be tough - we got a bit of a skelping down there in the league.

"Rusty Harrison actually didn't score anything for us down there so I don't think rider replacement there will make us any worse. Mason Campton is guesting for us again and it's a track he likes.

"Victor Palovaara scored four there last time and stopped Ludvig Lindgren getting a maximum - so he can ride it.

"We can't go down there the same way we went to Newcastle the last time because the meeting was over after six or seven races. It'll be tough but I think we'll certainly do better than what we did the last time."
