EILIDH CHILD helped Great Britain to a bronze medal on the final day of the World Relays in the Bahamas last night.

Part of the 4x400metre team, the Scot put in a professional performance to top off a successful day for the Brits as the 4x100m quarter also finished third.

"I could see on the screen that she [France's Floria Guei] was close but you can't really gain a perspective on the screen as it kind of warps things," said team-mate Bundy Davies, who crossed the line at 3:26.38.

"I thought 'I'm in such a good position and just hold on to everything you have got'. I couldn't see her and that's a good thing. I just kept on going."

Fellow winner Anyika Onoura added: "We've come out here and got the job done. "We finished top three against the top two in the world. There is so much we can learn from this."

Speaking ahead of the final, Child spoke of her relief after Great Britain & Northern Ireland's women all but booked their Olympic 4x400m relay spot by coming second in their semi, which was later secured by their bronze finish.

The 28-year-old ran a blistering second leg before the British squad - competing without world champion Christine Ohuruogu - eventually ended up behind Jamaica in 3:28.51.

And with all the finishers in the final guaranteed places at Rio 2016, Child said: "It was a load off everyone's mind.

"I'm delighted. We just wanted to secure that qualification spot as comfortably as possible and to get that automatic spot which we did."
