SCOTLAND'S two speedway clubs have announced a new money-saving opportunity for their most loyal supporters.

Glasgow Tigers and Edinburgh Monarchs will give season ticket holders at each club half-price admission to the home meetings of the other team - the only exception being head-to-head meetings between the two sides.

The clubs hope the scheme will help increase income for the sport in general.

Tigers co-owner Gerry Facenna said: "With Edinburgh racing on Friday nights and Glasgow on Sunday afternoons, the new deal means that diehard speedway fans can enjoy a double helping of speedway over one weekend, or find an alternative fix if their first-choice meeting is rained off."

Monarchs co-promoter John Campbell added: "Speedway is a fantastic sport and I'm delighted to work together with our colleagues in Glasgow to offer even better value to all our season ticket holders.

"Anything that adds value for our fans and for Scottish speedway has to be a move in the right direction."

The new scheme takes effect immediately.

Edinburgh host a Premier League Knock Out Cup match against Sheffield Tigers this Friday at 7.30pm, while Glasgow face Newcastle Diamonds in the Premier League at home on Sunday, with tapes up at 3pm.

Season tickets must be produced to claim the admission discount.
