IT WAS a five-star showing from Braehead as a quintet of Clansmen were named in the EIHL All-Star teams.

It has been a campaign that has seen the Glasgow side finish second to Sheffield Steelers by a point, win their conference by a canter and qualify for the Champions Hockey League.

In doing so, there have been a number of stand-out performers in purple, with the chance to further impress coming up this weekend.

However, five players in Ryan Finnerty's ranks have already done enough for recognition.

Top of the list is netminder Kyle Jones, who was named in the Ice Hockey Journalists UK's All-Star first team.

It has been an incredible season for the man between the pipes, with the Canadian racking up a staggering nine shut-outs. And while Jonesy leads the top team, Scott Aarssen, Jamie Fritsch, Leigh Salters and Stefan Meyer feature in the All-Star B-team.

To top things off, Clan kid Zach Sullivan won the Vic Batchelder Memorial Award for the best Under-21 player.

It is a timely boost for Braehead ahead of one of the most crucial weekend's of the season, with Hull coming to town tomorrow before Sunday's return leg.

Victory over the weekend will see the Scottish side advance to the play-off finals in Nottingham the following weekend for only the second time in their history - and for the second year running.

And to top things off, it has been announced that Saturday's first leg at the Braehead Arena is a sell-out.
