BRAEHEAD CLAN hit the road once again this weekend as they bid to stay top dogs in the EIHL.

Ryan Finnerty's men are two points clear of defending league champions Belfast Giants as they travel to Fife Flyers tonight before rounding things off away to Sheffield Steelers tomorrow.

It is the start of an important run for Scotland's top team, who will then go and play five games on the bounce which could propel them into being serious title contenders going into Christmas.

And defenceman Jamie Fritsch is relishing the prospect of keeping that momentum going in Kirkcaldy this evening, almost two months after their rivals humbled them 4-0 in the Challenge Cup. The 29-year-old said: "I wouldn't say there was extra pressure on us being top of the league although the other teams are gunning for us.

"We have to just stick to the systems and do the things that have made us successful.

"It's up to us to continue to play the way we have and while it's fun being where we are, it's also a challenge in trying to stay there." The American, who was once on the books of National Hockey League giants the Philadelphia Flyers, added: "We go to Fife on Saturday where we didn't have our best performance the last time we were there.

"Everyone's anxious to get back and try to get the points.

"The atmosphere at Fife is intense and the fans are on top of you almost, but for me, it is a fun place to play.

"The Flyers losing 6-1 to Sheffield the way they did on Sunday can make them a dangerous opponent so we're expecting them to bring their best effort against us."

Meanwhile, Clan's Neil Trimm goes into tonight's tussle needing just four points to reach the 100 mark in all EIHL competitions.
