GLASGOW TIGERS No.1 Nick Morris said he was "stoked" after he was picked to be part of the Australia team for the Speedway World Cup.

The 20-year-old, who began his British career at Ashfield aged 16, is in Mark Lemon's side along with Grand Prix trio Chris Holder - the 2012 world champion - Troy Batchelor and Jason Doyle.

Morris, who top scored for the Tigers at Newcastle on Monday night with 14 points, will be making his debut in the competition when he takes to the track at King's Lynn on June 8.

The event will see him bid to beat Great Britain, the United States and Latvia - including 2013 world champion Tai Woffinden and 2014 world No.1 Greg Hancock - in a race to reach the final.

After his selection, Morris said to fans: "Thanks for the messages everyone, stoked to be part of the Aussie team."

Morris has been in top form for the Tigers since he returned to the club during the winter. A Premier League winner in 2011, he claimed the No.1 race jacket from fellow new signing Richard Lawson this month.

He has also been flying for Elite League club Swindon Robins and tonight is due to line up at No.1 for the Wiltshire club when they face Coventry Bees, live on Sky Sports.
