The 48-year-old golfer, who became the oldest winner in European Tour history when he won in Hong Kong last month, was skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains when he broke his right leg.

Jimenez, one of Jose Maria Olazabal's vice-captains at the Ryder Cup in Medinah, was taken or an X-ray before being transferred to a hospital in Malaga

"I was going down a hill and lost control and when I fell it was very sore," said Jimenez.

"I was playing very well at the end of the season so it is not a good time for me to get injured."

ICE HOCKEY: Braehead Clan coach Jordan Krestanovich halted a six-game losing streak to hand his side a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Fife Flyers.

The Canadian was the only one to net in the tie breaker in Kirkcaldy after the visitors came back from 2-0 down in the second period to send the game to overtime.

Dave Nicoletti and the player/coach both scored for Clan.

Krestanovich will now turn his attention to Saturday's visit of Belfast Giants.

BASKETBALL: Glasgow Rocks climbed to fifth in the BBL Championship with a 95-78 home victory over Cheshire Phoenix.

Donald Robinson was the leading scorer for Glasgow with 23 points.
