BRAEHEAD head coach Jordan Krestanovich is confident the winning mentality of NHL star signing Drew Miller will rub off on his Clan.

The EIHL club made the sensational announcement that they had landed the Detroit Red Wings star as the NHL faces a lockout due to a dispute over players' financial contracts.

The fiasco has sparked an exodus of hot talent from North America with Clan being the latest side to take advantage.

And Krestanovich is positive the Stanley Cup winner can provide the cutting edge at Braehead after migrating East for the winter.

He said: "The lockout situation is unfortunate but it is an awesome opportunity for Clan.

"It's massive for us. We are pretty deep up front but he's a 15-goal scorer in the NHL, he will make our team so much better and far stronger.

"For us this was the perfect situation. Things worked out and we're looking forward to getting Drew here tomorrow and getting him playing this weekend."

Miller, who made his NHL debut in April 2007, has also enjoyed a spell at the Anaheim Ducks before joining the Red Wings in 2009/10.

Eyebrows will have been raised on both sides of the pond about Clan's latest acquisition, but Krestanovich is sure the 28-year-old will be fully committed to the cause during his short spell in Scotland.

"He is coming here to play hard and we are ecstatic to have him," said the Canadian, who will pitch his new signing straight into the homecoming double-header against Dundee Stars and Edinburgh Capitals this weekend.

"It's taken a while to get him here but I used to play with his agent and one thing led to another.

"Drew is a winner and he is ready to go. He plays for the Detroit Red Wings and he has won a Stanley Cup. That speaks for itself."
