LIBBY Clegg can't wait to be star-struck by the amazing line-up at next week's Sainsbury's Glasgow Grand Prix.

The Paralympic and World silver medallist will join world-class athletes such as Mo Farah, Yohan Blake, Greg Rutherford, Christine Ohuruogu and David Rudisha at the IAAF Diamond League event at Hampden Park on July 11 and 12.

Clegg, who suffers from the deteriorating eye condition Stargardt's Macular Dystrophy disease, has only slight peripheral vision in her left eye and is registered blind.

But she is certainly looking forward to the star-studded event. She said: "You can see from the line-up it's going to be one of the best meetings to be staged in the UK.

"I feel in good shape at the moment and I'm looking forward to getting out in front of an enthusiastic Scottish crowd."

Her guide runner, Mikail Huggins is just as excited by what awaits him in Glasgow - even if it means having to wear a kilt.

Clegg explained: "Mikail told me he will embrace his Scottish side over the next month.

"Despite being Birmingham born and bred, he has made a commitment to immerse himself in the culture for the Sainsbury's Glasgow Grand Prix and indeed the Commonwealth Games.

"I've yet to see him in a kilt, but I'm sure we can make that happen. We enjoy a close relationship, which is based on trust. In order to run fast, we've both got to be on top of our game and fully fit.

"I know we have the capability to go faster and I'm sure we'll have some even faster times over the next couple of years."

Clegg is based in Loughborough and feels she is missing out on all the excitement in the build-up to the IAAF Diamond League and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

She said: "Not being based in Glasgow ahead of these major events definitely helps you not get distracted but then you are missing out on the atmosphere.

"It's a bit disappointing that there's a lot of stuff going on and I'm not able to see it but I've got a job to do and that's to perform.

"If I can produce two world-class performances in Glasgow, at the Grand Prix and then at the Commonwealth Games, I will be over the moon.

"I really want to come away feeling successful this year. I think I need it. Everything is coming together now."

Clegg will line up in the T12 100m at the Sainsbury's Glasgow Grand Prix - an event which she boasts an impressive personal best of 12.13 seconds.

As well as the excitement of being invited to compete in the prestigious Diamond League event, the 24-year-old knows running a good time will put her in great stead for her return to Hampden two weeks later when she competes for Scotland in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

"The Sainsbury's Glasgow Grand Prix is a great opportunity to have a good look at Hampden and get a feel for the new track to get myself prepared for the Commonwealth Games.

"It will be a good taster for things to come and I'm really looking forward to it."

There will be around 47 world-class athletes competing in the Sainsbury's Glasgow Grand Prix as part of the IAAF Diamond League series.
