WILLIE LIMOND has warned Mitch Prince that his Commonwealth light-welterweight title is going nowhere.

The duo will clash at the Bellahouston Centre, on Friday June 7 with Limond's 140lbs belt up for grabs.

The champion, who is in his second reign as a Commonwealth ruler, is determined to slap down another young, hungry opponent, to give himself the platform to project towards even bigger baubles.

After stopping Glenboig's Eddie Doyle with a one round knock-out at the St Andrew's club Burns night show, back in January, Limond says he is determined to hand out another lesson to another young pretender.

The Commonwealth champion said: "Mitch Prince may think that he is younger and hungrier than I am, but he is only half-right. There is no denying he is younger than me but there is just no way he is hungrier than me.

"This will be my 41st fight and I want it now even more than I wanted it as a kid and that is because each fight could be my last.

"We will have to study tapes of Mitch Prince and have a look at his style but I am experienced enough to deal with whatever comes my way.

"The Commonwealth title is a solid domestic title and one I want to hold onto it but it is not the limit of my ambitions. But right now it is all about Prince and I can promise him that, come June 7, I will be ready for him."

For his part the challenger, who formerly used the ring name "The Prince of Passion", claims he is determined to be crowned king.

The 29-year-old said: "This is the biggest moment of my career and I am determined to become Commonwealth champion.

"I fought at the Commonwealth games in Melbourne but this is on a different scale.

"I have had a few set backs in my career but I have been patient and now that Tommy Gilmour has given me the opportunity to fight for a major domestic title I am determined to make the most of it.

"I am the younger, hungrier and more determined fighter, and on June 7, I will prove that."

For his part promoter Gilmour is anticipating a classic.

He said: "I have promoted some great fights at the Bellahouston Centre, including a world title fight with Keith Knox, but if this all-Scottish Commonwealth title fight is anything like as explosive as Willie's first defence with Eddie Doyle, the fans are in for a treat."

Tickets priced £40 unreserved and £50 ring side are available on 0141 810 5700.

Meanwhile, WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns will perform a public work out at the St Enoch shopping centre between 12 and 2pm on Thursday.
