WILLIE LIMOND will have his final tune-up for a challenge for the European light-welterweight title at the Morrison Promotions show at the Thistle Hotel on Sunday, December 14.

The British 140lbs champion is on a high-quality card that will see professional debuts for Commonwealth Games gold winner Charlie Flynn and fellow Team Scotland boxer Joe Ham, plus unbeaten super-middleweight David Brophy.

Promoter Alex Morrison says the pre-Christmas show is the strongest domestic fight card he has put on.

"We hope to have Willie challenging for the European light-welterweight title in February and as his last fight was when he won the British title back on June 27, against Curtis Woodhouse, it was just too long for Willie to go without meaningful action," said Morrison.

"We had hoped to have Willie on in Liverpool this week, but he has just become a father again and the December 14 date is far more suitable."

An announcement on his opponent is expected soon. Morrison added: "With Charlie Flynn and Joe Ham making their debuts and David Brophy also featuring, the quality of this card is the strongest I have put on in many a year."

Morrison has reached agreement with Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn to get Flynn on in up to four fights in England in 2015.

The medallist could be in action in six contests over the next year as his professional career is fast-tracked.

Morrison added: "There is no point in hanging about with Charlie. He has plenty of experience from his amateur career and the perfect style to transition to the pros. As such I have reached an agreement with Eddie to feature Charlie down south on his big shows which will really speed up his education."

He continued: "The first step in that process will be the four-rounder Charlie has at the Thistle Hotel."

Tickets priced £90 (inclusive of a five course dinner) and £50 (inclusive of a buffet) are now available on 0141 554 777.
