Andy Murray last night fulfilled a sporting ambition when he met eight-division world boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquiao was on hand to greet the Scot when he touched down in Manila for the inaugural International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) tournament, which gets underway today.

After arriving in the Philippines, the former Wimbledon champ admitted he was stunned by the gridlock traffic.

But it was boxing superstar Pacquiao who brought Murray out in a broad smile. And the first thing he did was congratulate the Dunblane star on his engagement this week to long-term love Kim Sears.

Pacquiao said: "I am very happy to meet Andy. I am a huge tennis fan and he is very passionate on the court, he reminds me of a boxer."

Boxing fan Murray replied that he hoped "to see Manny Pacquiao on the court sometime soon".

Murray, the 2012 US Open champion, is scheduled to take on current US Open champion, Marin Cilic tonight in the revamped tennis contest.

And tomorrow Britain's top men's player goes up against France's Gael Monfils. before taking on Czech star Tomas Berdych.
