BRAEHEAD sharp shooter Stefan Meyer admits Clan are finding life tough at the top.
Ryan Finnerty's troops stretched their winning run to seven at the weekend with back-to-back triumphs over Edinburgh Capitals to keep them at the summit of the EIHL table.
Following a 3-1 win at the Braehead Arena on Saturday night, the Glasgow club came out 9-4 winners in a blood and thunder battle at Murrayfield.
Clan stars Leigh Salters and Zack Fitzgerald were ejected from the game while Evening Times columnist Chris Frank was dismissed early on in Saturday's meeting.
And 29-year-old Meyer, who previously played in the National Hockey League for the Florida Panthers and the Calgary Flames, insists Finnerty's men are in for a fight to stay in their lofty position.
He said: "It's hard work to stay there, we are starting to realise that.
"We can't worry about other teams, just ourselves. It's hard work and attention to detail. If we stick with that then we can bang with the best of them.
"It was a pretty tough game on Sunday, we knew we had to be ready. I thought Edinburgh were great on Saturday. They caught us on our toes and we weren't ready to play in the first period.
"Finner came in and gave us a good talk so we resettled and regrouped. From then on we played some good hockey."
Meyer claimed a hat-trick in that Murrayfield battle in what is his second season in the EIHL after spending last term with the Sheffield Steelers where he scored 28 goals.
The Canadian said: "I'm just having fun. I'm benefiting from my team-mates who are doing a great job. I'm having a heck of a time playing hockey right now.
"We're going to have a little rest. We have been pretty banged up and sick so we're starting to get over that. You can see it's still lingering within the team but that happens throughout the season.
"We're a good team and we'll figure out ways to get round that."
