DREW Miller today reflected on his opening spell with Braehead Clan and admitted: "The fans are amazing."

The former Detroit Red Wings star has bagged three goals, including a match-winning strike in the final minute against Fife Flyers last weekend, along with an assist, as the Glasgow side have swept to three straight Elite League wins.

New Jersey-born Miller, who made his National Hockey League debut with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 2007, has also played for Tampa Bay Lightning.

And the Detroit-based 28-year-old, who will be a key man against Nottingham Panthers tonight, said: "I love the chanting by the fans. Since the first day the guys have been great and made me feel part of the team.

"The transition has been easy apart from the time change (from North America). I felt a little tired after the first few games as I've not played in five months.

"But I'm feeling better every game and the team is playing great. The fans are different from the US. They are loud there, but chanting is the difference."

BASKETBALL: Glasgow Rocks coach Sterling Davis is closing in on an extra signing to help address his team's stuttering start to the season.

The American held contract talks with American forward Mike Ringgold last week, but the deal has remained on hold while Davis considers other options.

And, with a number of players being freed across Europe after the opening month of the new campaign, other faces could come belatedly into the frame.

"I'm coming close to an agree-ment, but there's still one or two players I'm looking at," Davis said.

"Plus you're always watching to see if anyone else becomes available. At this stage of the year, there's always guys who, for whatever reason, get cut."

The Rocks will face a trip to Manchester or Sheffield in the quarter-finals of the BBL Trophy if they see off Scottish League champions Edinburgh Kings in the first round of the competition.
