GLASGOW speedway chief Colin Hamilton is anticipating a mouth-watering weekend of action for his new-look team.

The Tigers travel to Cumbria to take on pre-season title favourites Workington Comets tonight with new addition Tero Aarnio in the ranks.

Aarnio last rode for Workington in the UK and Glasgow's Rusty Harrison is also a former Comet.

Tigers reserve Kasper Lykke also bagged eight points while guesting for Workington at the weekend, and that has left the Glasgow camp in buoyant mood.

Hamilton said: "We know it's going to be tough because Workington are pretty strong at home.

"But Kasper guested there last week and did really well for Workington, and with Tero Aarnio going to a place he knows well, you would hope he scores some good points.

"We're going to Workington more upbeat than we have been in previous visits this season and last."

The Tigers then take on Newcastle Diamonds at home on Sunday in the Premier League before the away leg on Monday.

The Diamonds include Team GB World Cup star Danny King and spectacular racer Stuart Robson in their ranks.

And Hamilton insists this will be more than just a dress-rehearsal for the forthcoming KO Cup tie between the sides.

He said: "We haven't ridden against each other this season yet and we're going for league points, especially at home.

"Newcastle always come to Ashfield and there are close matches. We managed to pip them last year in the league.

"Stuart Robson is value for money from a spectator point of view, but hopefully we can nullify him and Rusty can do his bit for the Tigers."

Meanwhile, an old foe will turn his allegiance to the west for two days - as Edinburgh captain Derek Sneddon guests at reserve for Glasgow in both Newcastle ties.

"Obviously, Derek loves pulling on the red and white stripes," Hamilton added.

"We're looking for him to do a job for us too. He knows the Ashfield circuit very well and Newcastle, too, because he rode for them a couple of seasons ago. He might get a few rides if he's doing well."
