Glasgow golfer David Orr battled through the pain barrier at Gleneagles to finish among the frontrunners on day one of the Scottish PGA Championship.
The 2009 national champion shrugged off the discomfort and hit a three-under 68 which left him two shots behind joint leaders Graham Fox and Chris Kelly.
Orr, who reeled off a trio of birdies at 14, 15 and 16, said: "I pulled a muscle in my back at the gym recently and I had to call for painkillers on the fifth hole. I was really struggling for a spell but I just stayed focused and battled on."
Cawder pro Kelly, the Scottish champion in 2003, blasted a five-under 66 after his victory in the Portpatrick Pro-Am at the weekend.
Bishopbriggs veteran Robert Arnott, winner of last week's P&H Championship, opened with a 69.
