SCOTT Jamieson reckons his game is in perfect shape to make the cut at The Open at Hoylake next week - after securing his spot in dramatic fashion.

Jamieson holed a 10-foot par putt on the final green in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen last night to sneak in.

His stunning seven- under-par final round 64 left him on nine under par overall and in a share of eighth place with American Rickie Fowler and Sweden's Robert Karlsson.

And it meant the Glasgow golfer picked up the last of the places up for grabs at Royal Liverpool.

The 30-year-old headed to Merseyside today with hopes high he can play 72 holes in the game's greatest event for the first time in three attempts.

He said: "Playing four rounds of golf on a tough links course like Royal Aberdeen is perfect preparation for the Open at Hoylake this week.

"Thankfully, I just did enough to get in. My confidence is high and my game is in great shape after a good last round and a strong finish in my national open."

Jamieson holed a 10-footer on the final green in the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart three years ago to secure a slot in The Open for the first time.

But that did not make doing so again at the Balgownie course last night any easier for the Cathkin Braes man.

He explained: "I was pretty nervous playing the last hole. I left my first putt well short and so I knew that I had to hole the next one. Luckily, I made it."
