IN-FORM Glasgow Tigers skipper Theo Pijper is planning to "do some damage" to his big rivals and former club this weekend as his side's play-off fate is decided.

The Ashfield men face Edinburgh Monarchs twice in 48 hours in a hectic few days of speedway up and down the country.

The Premier League table as it stands on Sunday night will decide who makes the end-of-season showdown for the title, with a few clubs still in with a chance of making the all-important sixth place.

The top five is all but decided and includes the Monarchs.

Glasgow's chance of making it might be slim, but Pijper isn't giving up hope of getting some vital away points at the home of the club he once helped to the same title more than a decade ago.

Ahead of tonight's match at Armadale, the Dutchman said: "I used to do pretty well round there, so I'm sure I can do some damage - that's the plan anyway.

"Sunday is probably our best chance to beat Edinburgh this year.

"It's going to be a hard meeting - both on Friday and Sunday - but we will see how it goes.

"We just need to hit them from the start.

"You never know, we might still make the play-offs.

We are off in the second meeting of a double-header at Edinburgh so the track won't be as much to their liking. We need to all fire at the same time."

Glasgow will go into tonight's meeting five points behind Newcastle, who currently sit sixth.

But there are several factors yet to come into play with a raft of fixtures being raced over the weekend involving most of the Premier League sides.

However, if the Tigers are to enter the reckoning, they must get at least a draw tonight - giving them two points - and a three-point win on Sunday.

The tie at Ashfield has been pushed back to 5pm from the usual 3pm start.
