Glasgow Rocks player-coach Sterling Davis may opt to retire from playing at the end of the season despite the uncertainty over his future at the helm of the British Basketball League outfit.

With talks on hold over extending his contract beyond next month, the 36-year-old American saw his side keep their hopes of snatching fifth place alive on Saturday as a frenetic rally saw off Bristol Flyers 97-91.

However with just three games of the league campaign left before the play-offs begin, Davis - who has significantly reduced his on-court involvement this term - admits he will soon face the tough decision over whether to prolong his career.

"I have thought about it," he revealed. "I'm trying to figure out how you weigh things up because a lot of times, guys' bodies tell them: 'listen, you can't take this any more.' But I feel fine. There will come a stage when you cut things off.

"But people look at your age rather than how the body is doing. I'm looking for signs, but I don't see them. I've always taken pride in how I've looked after myself, particularly in the off-season. I'm going back and forth on it."

Tayo Ogedengbe hit a game-high 23 points as the Rocks outscored Bristol 32-20 in the fourth quarter to remain in the three-way scrap for fifth with London and Sheffield.

Newcastle Eagles still need one more win to clinch the BBL title after lone rivals Leicester Riders beat Sheffield Sharks 80-72 yesterday.

While Manchester Giants will now vie with Bristol for the eighth and final play-off spot after their 93-90 win over Plymouth eliminated the Raiders from contention.
